Homoerotic paintings: the violence of male desire. Nude men in fictitious spaces. Anatomical fantasies.

CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO KNOW MORE ABOUT EACH WORK:

I think my recent portraits are successful. Visually, they work. It’s fairly easy for me to paint them. I would say I have found my way of approaching portraiture.

But I’m not quite satisfied with that. When I start a new work afresh, I can’t resolve to follow the easy way when I’m in front of the white canvas. Of course, I continue to paint faces, but I also want to paint other stuff. I want to develop a complex and varied array of images. I want to import some of the qualities found in my portraits into other types of pictures. That’s why I recently made some experiments. I painted bodies in defined spaces. The idea is simple: to broaden the frame of the image to encompass a full body and the fictitious space around it. Among other things, I know I’m good enough to paint eyes and I want to explore subjects that don’t rely, well at least not solely, on the expression of a particular gaze. To sum it up, I want to develop new strengths.
